The biggest misconception about lawyers is that the “good” ones are heartless and dishonest

Why do you think you are a better lawyer than the other associates?I’m smart, aggressive and very competitive inside a courtroom. As a criminal defense lawyer, I am in court almost every day, fiercely battling prosecutors and judges to vigorously protect the rights of my clients. I have no doubt that when it comes to trial, very few lawyers are my equal. What’s your verdict on reality TV?I’ve never been a big fan of reality TV (though I must confess I’ve become addicted ever since signing on to do this show). The only reason I agreed to do this show is Bios. I knew we’d be safe in his hands, and I wouldn’t have to take my shirt off and eat worms. What, in your opinion, is the biggest misconception people have about lawyers and why is it a misconception?I’m not sure that it is as much a misconception as it is a misunderstanding of what lawyers do. I think people often think lawyers just want to get as much money as they can out of their clients with the least amount of service. What people don’t see are the ideals behind what most lawyers do. The law represents our highest moral ideals in written form. At it’s best, it is true democracy in practice – the great equalizer. Lawyers exist so that every person can have access to the courtroom as an arena to address their grievances. Behind every lawyer is a client who is relying on that lawyer to look out for them. I have to admit that a lot of the criticism aimed at lawyers is well earned. However, it is more than a little unbalanced. At their best, lawyers should also be admired and respected. All great battles for civil and individual rights have gone through the courts, with lawyers at the frontline. People should remember this when they jokingly refer to lawyers as bottom feeders. Because when you’re on the bottom, who’s the first person you call? Trust me, it’s not Mother Teresa.

Why do you think you are a better lawyer than the other associates? My track record speaks for itself. During my years as a criminal prosecutor, and then on both the defense and plaintiffs’ sides of civil litigation, I’ve lost just a single case. Fortunately, I’ve not had to develop the skill of being a good loser, and I don’t intend to start now. What’s your verdict on reality TV?I’m not particularly interested in watching people eat bugs, search for a boyfriend, or explore their inner child on national television. However, shows based on skill, strategy, and the drama that unfolds as a result of genuine, merit-based competition is fascinating. As “The Law Firm” proves, truth is stranger than fiction. What, in your opinion, is the biggest misconception people http://www.hookupdate.net/trans-dating have about lawyers and why is it a misconception? In fact, the best trial lawyers are compassionate, ethical, and personable. They truly care about their clients. They succeed because of their talent and need not stoop to being obnoxious, underhanded, or rude. Trial lawyers are fighters, so people may think that the best fighter is the one who yells the loudest and deals the lowest blows. At the end of the day, strategy triumphs over volume. The old saying really is true: to be a successful trial lawyer, be yourself – unless you’re a jerk – then be someone else.
